NASHVILLE, TN – Healing Innovations, a national leader in advanced neurorehabilitation technology, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Ascension Saint Thomas Rehabilitation Hospital, which will make the Rise&Walk® system available to patients with neurological and mobility impairments.
The hospital — which is jointly owned by Ascension Saint Thomas and Lifepoint Health — provides ongoing, customized care to patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation and orthopedic injury. Known for its specialized intensive therapy with short lengths of stay, the Rise&Walk technology will equip Ascension to further its mission to maximize quality of life for patients.
“The Rise&Walk helps with mass repetition. With manual therapy, you might achieve 30 or 40 repetitions, but with the Rise&Walk, you can get hundreds of steps,” said Molly Murphy, director of Therapy at Ascension Saint Thomas Rehabilitation Hospital. “Research shows that getting a patient up and moving earlier tends to reduce their length of stay. Because we are introducing patients to the Rise&Walk sooner, they’re up and moving earlier, which gives them a better chance at achieving improved outcomes.”
The Rise&Walk is specifically designed for patients with neurological and mobility impairments, facilitating gait training by synchronizing upper and lower extremity movements. The versatile neurorehabilitation station integrates robotic-assisted gait training, seated activities, and a balance support zone, all aimed at promoting neuroplasticity, a key factor in functional recovery.
“Partnering with Ascension Saint Thomas Rehabilitation Hospital allows us to provide even more patients with the opportunity to accelerate their recovery and regain independence,” said Luke Benda, CEO of Healing Innovations. “As a Nashville-based company ourselves, we’re thrilled to be working with a local health system that delivers such excellent care to so many patients in our area.”
